Not bad,
but not really very good. Competent work on the part of most of the band, but Garcia is sleepwalking.

The Show: I'd classify it as a night of high energy in which Jerry can't remember a lot of the words, and compensates by jamming his solos extra hard.
The recording: audience too close to the mikes. I don't know what's worse- listening to people talk during a song, or just the idea of people not paying attention to the music while it was happening...
The taper's section was invented for a reason, in what, '84? So why are there all these shows from the 90's on this site, where the only version is an AUD. that was recorded literally from the middle of the audience with microphones just above their heads? It's ironic considering that if you go back to the 80's there are commonly a dozen versions of each show with SBD's and well-recorded AUD's.
I'm actually going to rate this 1 star in the hopes that Charlie Miller will notice that there's only one version of this show, and that it's got a low rating, and so he needs to find us a better version, hopefully a board!

The "SMR" project
SEE 1992,2,21 'getting them all!----Very laidback, the band's looking foreword to winter vacation, a whole year making people happy, must be exhausting.

Night of wonder!
This is an especially beautiful show, but then again, I am biased. This was my first. Before this show, I hated the dead, I was only there because my friend bought me a ticket. I was 16. Man...It sounds like everything I remember. I have been listening to the dead for the 10 years that have passed since then, and I still would rank it high!
The post above remarked on Jerry's confidence. There is something in the tone, the looseness and strength of his scaled progressions. It was a cosmic evening folks.

Better than you would think....
This show comes off better than I remember it being in person. For a 1994 show, Jerry seems to be more together than at other shows. I thought the next night was better, but even that show has more Jerry blunders than this one. The Around and Around is especially fun. Also, for an audience recording, I think the sound is quite good, especially for the Oakland Coliseum.
